There are no guarantees for having a successful life. But, you can increase the odds of success by following certain tips and tricks. In this blog, we will explore those easy things you can do in high school to make it a bit easier.

The word “hack” may conjure up the idea of breaking into someone’s Instagram account or their device without the owner’s permission. In this case, when we say life hacks, we mean tricks that can improve how you use your time and resources.

So—without further ado—here are our favorite high school hacks to help you have a successful year!

Creating a study schedule will help you manage your time better.

Our Top Three High School Hacks

1.Time Management

Time is one of the few things you cannot get back. Once you have lost an hour playing a video game or chatting with someone on the phone when you should be doing an assignment, you cannot get back that one hour. This can result in you having to complete everything at the last minute because time was lost. There is a simple way to solve this problem!

Plan how you are going to spend the day, the week, and the weekend. Most of the devices that you may use–your phone, your tablet, and your computer–have a calendar app. Block out your calendar with how you plan to spend your time

If you have an assignment due on a certain date, plan on when you will start working on it. From there, you may need to make an estimate on how long it will take you to complete it.

If you have a to-do list, convert all those items into an appointment in your calendar. Once you develop this habit, you will love it! This will not only help you throughout high school, but it can help in your life after school, too. It will force you to develop a healthy routine and learn goal setting.

Plus, the wonderful thing is you will have documented proof that shows where you are spending your time.

2. Be Organized

Do you get frustrated when you can’t find your phone when you JUST had it? Do you get flustered when you can’t find a pencil when class starts? A simple tip to avoid this problem is to put things back in the same place after you use them.

There’s a proverb that says, “There is a place for everything and everything in its place.” Keep the things that you use most in a visible and accessible place. Try not to dump things into a drawer or put them in a random spot because before you know it, you’ll misplace it again!

While this may be more difficult than time management, organization is a skill once mastered will save you a lot of frustrations and will help you throughout your life. Similar to a table of contents in the front of a textbook, if you create a “table of contents” of all the everyday things you use, your life would be more efficient!

Don't be afraid to ask for help with homework.

3. Overcome the Hesitation to Ask for Help

Many of us feel awkward asking for help. You may think: What if the other person does not help or ignores me? Will they think I’m not smart? These thoughts may happen sometimes, but in many circumstances, people are happy to help. The fact is most human beings like helping others!

Also, remember, you won’t get help if you don’t ask! For example, UPchieve tutors are always willing and ready to help students 24/7, and signing up is quick and easy! Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and get the assistance you need.

You can also do a quick Google search to get help and find many online resources. If you want to learn more about a subject, you can type the name of a subject and add specific words related to that subject.

For example, if you want to learn more about Graphs type “Graphs on a plane” into Google. You may also see a lot of videos that will help you learn, and the nice thing about that is that videos let you learn at your own pace. You can rewind and play it again, and repeat!
