Today, we’d like you to meet Sarah. Sarah is a hard-working 10th grade student who aspires toward a career in medicine or law. UPchieve interviewed her in November 2020. 

Here’s what Sarah had to say about her experience with UPchieve:

“In my family, we have this saying– ‘education is the only way out.’ But I’m a first gen student and the daughter of immigrants, so my siblings and I have had to figure out college on our own. Education is really important to me, because I feel like it’s the only way to get a good job and secure a stable future. 

Prior to UPchieve, I used Google if I got stuck on my homework. I've always wanted to get personalized tutoring, but it was way too expensive—around $1 a minute! Now I use UPchieve almost every day for free.

I have a difficult time with English, but teachers have to meet with multiple students during a single 30-minute Zoom call, so it’s hard to get one-on-one help. My coaches on UPchieve helped me rewrite my essays, correct my grammar, and improve my writing. I got a 29/30 on the first essay I completed using UPchieve, and after several sessions both my math and English grades have gone up.
