Tutoring that reaches
every student

UPchieve's tutoring and college counseling is available for free to all 6th-12th grade students at Title I schools. So any students at your Title I schools could create an account anytime and start getting unlimited help from our coaches, with no cost or commitment required from your district.

In addition to free services for students, UPchieve also offers low-cost partnerships to Title I schools and districts that are designed to drive high student usage. These are year-long commitments where we work closely with your schools to handle implementation and rollout from end-to-end, so you can see high adoption from students with minimal lift from staff. This includes presenting to students in person, training teachers, integrating with Clever/Classlink, and providing custom data reporting for administrators. To date, we've partnered with more than 100 schools and districts across the country.

We charge a flat annual fee per school (based on school size) to keep costs predictable and affordable. Since our tutoring is powered by volunteers, we're able to keep pricing extremely low compared to other tutoring providers and only charge what it costs us to implement the partnership. As a nonprofit, we also have a limited number of fully sponsored partnerships available for schools that can't afford extra tutoring support. UPchieve recruits, vets, trains, and certifies volunteers to be high-quality tutors and college counselors (together referred to as "coaches") on our platform. Before working with students, every volunteer must complete a training course covering tutoring best practices, DEI, student safety, and academic integrity. Additionally, coaches receive pedagogical training and must pass a certification quiz for each subject they wish to tutor. We also proactively monitor session quality and share feedback with volunteers to ensure students consistently receive high-quality support.

Student safety comes first, at every step. Every coach completes a full vetting process before joining UPchieve, including a background check screened against the National Sex Offenders Registry and photo ID verification. Once approved, coaches complete required training and must pass a subject-specific certification before they can work with a student.

During sessions, students and coaches only see each other's first names, no other personal information is shared, and there's no video feature. Our AI monitors every session in real time and instantly blocks anything inappropriate, including attempts to share personal information like a phone number. After each session, our team reviews chat logs and images again, so we can follow up directly with a student or coach if anything needs attention.

If a student takes an action that warrants reporting, for their own safety or someone else's, we'll notify the right contacts at your school immediately. Just let your partnership manager know who those contacts should be. We're also happy to share when a student is flagged for a policy violation, even for smaller things like accidentally sharing personal information. Individual users are responsible for their own behavior on and off the platform, while UPchieve puts reasonable safeguards in place to help keep interactions safe and on-topic.
