How to Make Homework Fun
Doing homework can be a drag! It’s hard to get started, and even when you do, it’s hard to keep yourself focused!
They say doing homework is the best way to retain the information you’ve been taught because you’re putting that knowledge into motion. But what happens when you just can’t seem to simply start?
Here are a few tips on how to make homework fun, which will make your homework a bit easier to start AND finish!
1. Do Homework With a Friend
Doing homework with friends is a great way to get through all of your work quickly, and it gives everyone a chance to socialize as well. It’s also the best way to keep motivated and have fun. Studies find that friends who regularly do homework together have more fun, learn more, and have better mental health. Just make sure that you don't get too distracted with your friends and not finish all of your assignments!
2. Take Breaks and Check In With Yourself
Mental fitness is important, and you deserve to “woosah” whenever you need to. If you feel yourself experiencing mental fatigue or just simply ~overwhelmed~, stretch, get a snack, or just give your brain a break by doing something small that brings you peace! It’s also really helpful to prioritize staying organized and engaging in exercise regularly. This can all help you stay on task! Lastly, if you can’t power through your work and it seems impossible to complete, ask your teacher for an extension. You can do it!
3. Set Incentives to Keep Yourself Motivated
You deserve it. Treat yourself to that bowl of ice cream, but only after you finish your tasks. The incentive can be some form of want or “must have”. Be creative! For example, for every assignment you finish, you can treat yourself to X amount of episodes of that show that you’re binge watching. Another helpful tip is setting a timer before you start your homework. When the timer runs out, you will feel so much better about completing your task during the allotted time!
