Give your students extra help, for free!

UPchieve is a free, online platform that can connect your students with live, certified tutors any time they need it. We’re currently focused on high school math tutoring, including: Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus. Students can use UPchieve for homework help, open-ended concept review, and exam prep (including some state-specific exams, like the Regents exam).

How it works

  • Students make a free account and choose a topic they need help with (e.g., “Algebra” or Calculus”)

  • We pair the student with a tutor who is certified in that topic as quickly as possible (usually in less than 5 minutes)

  • The student and the tutor collaborate in our virtual classroom via a whiteboard and text-based chat

About our tutors

  • UPchieve tutors are all volunteers. Most of them are college students or young professionals.

  • Every tutor undergoes a rigorous screening process and must pass certification quizzes in the topic(s) they want to tutor.

  • Our certification quizzes are designed in alignment with Common Core standards.

How to get access

Due to heavy demand, UPchieve’s platform will only be available to a select group of students referred by teachers, schools, or nonprofit partners during the 2019-2020 school year.

  • For school administrators:

    • We’re looking for 5 schools to partner with to run a free pilot this upcoming school year. Our ideal school partner:

      • is located on the east coast

      • is a Title 1 school or at least 50% of students are low-income (defined by eligibility for free or reduced price lunch)

      • is a high school or has at least 50 students who are age 13+

      • has a 1:1 program (preference for chromebooks)

    • If you meet most or all of the above criteria, please schedule a call with UPchieve’s Executive Director Aly to learn more

  • For teachers:

    • We’re looking for 10 high school math teachers to experiment with us on ways to integrate UPchieve into your curriculum

    • The only requirement is that at least 50% of the students at your school are low-income (defined by eligibility for free or reduced price lunch)

    • To learn more, please schedule a call with our team
