UPchieve Announces Grant from Laura and Gary Lauder Family Venture Philanthropy Fund

UPchieve is excited to announce that we’ve been awarded $37,300 from the Laura and Gary Lauder Family Venture Philanthropy Fund!

Founded in 1995, the Laura and Gary Lauder Family Venture Philanthropy Fund invests in visionary leaders and projects that have the potential to create lasting impact. Laura and Gary provide support through the lens of venture capital, with the aim of inspiring innovation to solve social challenges. They describe their approach as requiring a high tolerance for risk, a vigorous effort to learn from mistakes, and a strategic vision to stay focused on the larger goal.

In 2011, Laura conceived of the Lauder Family Giving Circle to bring family members together and engage in meaningful, intergenerational, informed, and directed philanthropy. As part of the annual Giving Circle, Laura and Gary’s children, Josh and Eliana, take turns selecting a topic for the Lauder Family Giving Circle and contribute their own bar/bat mitzvah money toward the grantmaking pool. Previous years’ topics have included early childhood literacy, job training, and alleviating poverty. This year's focus was the intersection of education and technology.

UPchieve was awarded the grant to support our current strategic initiatives, including mobile app development and Bay Area expansion. We are especially grateful as UPchieve's grant is the single largest grant amount that has been awarded through the Lauder Family Giving Circle.

Once again, UPchieve thanks the Lauder family for their generosity and support. We look forward to working with you over the next year to give more students access to the on-demand academic support they need to achieve their goals.
